Speaking at the reception, Le Thanh Liem, deputy chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee also said that the relationship between Vietnam and the United States is a successful story of the process of healing the war wounds, closing the past and heading to the future. This was also the message which has been expressed clearly through U.S President Barrack Obama’s recent visit to Vietnam.
 At the event, Ambassador Ted Osius also praised the outgoing U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Rena Bitter for her contribution in efforts to the countries’ relations, including supporting the recent deal between Boeing and Vietjet, helping in the preparation for the launch of the Fulbright University Vietnam this fall, as well as assisting Vietnam in meeting its obligations under the Trans-Pacific Partnership. She was also the one who helped to expand the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City’s American Center which attracts over 70,000 Vietnamese every year.
Bitter has left the southern Vietnamese hub for Laos, where she has been nominated by President Obama as the U.S. ambassador. FOSCO’s General Director attended and celebrated this event.
