On Friday, the 14th of October, 2016 FOSCO International School – FIS (one among many services of Service Company to Foreign Missions – FOSCO) successfully organized FIS International Day Celebration. This event is one of the school biggest events to be held throughout a school year. On this occasion, FIS students can learn and discover as many as possible the various and diverse cultures from different countries around the world.
At this event, FIS welcome all parents, students, teachers and school staff to join, especially there were students and teachers coming from the Russian School next-door.
At 9am, the event started with a parade in which everyone joined walking around the school campus in there traditional costumes, showing the modern-world spirit of globalisation and integration. Following that, Mr. Darren Paine – (FIS Academic Director) gave a speech as an opening remark. The very first performance of the day was a fashion show with the teachers and school staff as models wearing traditional costumes of many different countries around the world. It was a very colorful and lively performance.
After that, the students continued the program with their own creative performances. Kindergarten students took their turn to show off their cuteness in another fashion show whereas Primary school students were so energetic and lively as they danced and performed in various music styles: Vietnamese, American, Nigerian, Canadian, Australian, etc.
To make the atmosphere even more exciting, Mr. Darren and Ms. Trần Thị Thanh Trúc – FIS Acting Principal then announced the prizes for Best Dressed students, Best Presenters of the International Day Presentation Contest (for Primary students), and best Poster Designers of the International Day (for Kindergarten students). The school all cheered for the good work and good contribution that everyone did in order to make this school year 2016-2017 so adorable and memorable.
After the prize announcement, students and parents were free to walk around the school campus and discover the displays at many different booths created by the school teachers in the effort to present special features in the cultures of many different countries like the Philippines, Vietnam, Britain, Canada, Russia, etc. The celebration concluded with a potluck lunch where everyone could sit together and enjoy many different dishes prepared by the school and the participants of the event.
FIS International Day 2016 was a success and for sure an unforgettable memory for eveyone. See you all again next year!
