On the morning of August 15th, Deputy General Director Hồ Trọng Trí attended and gave flowers to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of India (August 15th 1947-2017) held at Southern Institute of Social Sciences.
Attending the celebration were Brigadier Nguyễn Văn Nam, Deputy Commander of Military Region 7; Mr. Trần Phước Anh, Deputy Director of HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Huỳnh Minh Thiện, Chairman of HUFO, Madam Hồ Thị Trinh Anh, Deputy Chairman of the Friendship Association of Vietnam – India in HCMC; Madam Smita Pant, Consul General of the Republic of India to HCMC, many representatives of different Departments, Offices in HCMC, and representatives of the Indian community working and living in HCMC.
At the ceremony, Madam Hồ Thị Trinh Anh, Deputy Chairman of the Friendship Association of Vietnam – India in HCMC said that the 15th of August 1947 was a big milestone in history that marked the birth of an independent India and marked the begin of a new India which ever since has become a developed, prosperous and modern country, having influence on others and being one of the most dynamic countries in the area and in the world. With the traditional friendship built and developed by their Leaders since long ago, Vietnam and India have become bonding and trust-worthy partners with growing cooperation in many fields including politics, economics, science, technology, national defence and security.
Giving a speech at the event, Madam Smita Pant – Consul General of India to HCMC shared that 70 years ago this date was an important benchmark, turning India, a country with diversed culture and various religions, into a developed country, one among top 3 biggest economies in Asia, making great contributions to keeping peace, security and common growth of the area and in the world.
Thanking Hochiminh Citizens for their constant good relationship with India, Madam Consul General of India emphasized that 2017 is the year we celebrate the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of establishing strategic partnership, India and Vietnam have been preparing to organize many meaningful cooperative and friendship activities, especially the senior delegation exchange programs, enhancing cultural exchange, cooperations in economics and national defence, bringing along realistic benefits to the people of both countries as they are building and developing their economies and societies.
