As invited by Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), FOSCO delegation led by Madam Huynh Thi Tuyet Nhung, Member of FOSCO Party’s Committee and Deputy General Director, attended the 13th May Day International Brigade from April 19th to May 7th 2018.
There were about 290 delegates joining this year’s May Day Brigade, who come from 32 countries all around the world. The delegates had the chance to participate in many voluntary activities in Agriculture, meetings with academics and authorities of Cuban localities, visits to factories and health-care centers, and could socialise with the local people of Havana, Artemisa, Villa Clara and Camaguey.
The Opening ceremony took place in CIJAM Camp which is named after the founder of Cuban Communist Party, Julio Antonio Mella (1903-1929), in Caimito, Artemisa. This camp is one of the 2 places where the delegates stayed in throughout the program. At the Opening ceremony, there was a tree-planting activity which symbolised the growing friendship among the peoples. The biggest event of the program was the May Day Parade with thousands of people taking part in, with the presence of the highest leader of Cuban Party and Authority, of many international delegates from different brigades, of local and international press.
On May 3rd, FOSCO Delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba and met with the Ambassador Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary Nguyen Trung Thanh. At the meeting, the Ambassador kindly provided FOSCO delegation with a lot of important information in bilateral relationship between the two brother countries Vietnam and Cuba, especially about the reciprocating housing relationships that FOSCO is taking care of. On the same day, FOSCO Delegation came to visit and work with PALCO Group (a unit under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba whose missions are similar to those of FOSCO which are to provide services to Diplomatic/Consular Corps). In the meeting, Comrade Abraham Maciques Maciques – Chairman of PALCO introduced to FOSCO the company structure and main activities. Through that, FOSCO Delegation could learn valuable information and experience for accomplising its work duties.
The business trip left in FOSCO delegates many beautiful memories and strong impressions about such sincere welcome of ICAP, such peaceful and warmhearted image of Cuba, such enthusiasm and kindness of Cuban people. The delegation was really happy to see in person the strong growth of our brother country. Although facing many difficulties and challenges, no matter how tough the situation is, Cuba still has a lot of friends who love peace, solidarity and still receives plenty of support from around the world.
