“Respected leaders and former leaders of the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front; veteran revolutionaries; Heroic Mothers of Vietnam; Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces; Heroes of Labor; generals, officers and soldiers of the People’s Armed Forces;

Compatriots, comrades; Vietnamese people abroad; friends and progressive people around the world;

Distinguished delegates!

Today, in the sacred and heroic atmosphere of the August Revolution, we solemnly celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

Eighty years ago, at this historic Ba Dinh Square, our beloved President Ho Chi Minh solemnly read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam — the first democratic republic in Southeast Asia — opening a new era of independence and freedom for our nation. From that historic moment, the Vietnamese people embarked on a new journey: building a people’s government, defending the Fatherland, and steadily advancing along the path of socialism, toward the goal of “A prosperous people, a strong country, democracy, justice, and civilization.”

In this sacred moment, we respectfully remember our forebears and express our boundless gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh; we pay tribute to the revolutionary predecessors, to the millions of compatriots and soldiers who sacrificed and devoted themselves for national independence, freedom, unification, and the happiness of the people.

We will forever honor the heroic Vietnamese Mothers; veterans; wounded and sick soldiers; families of martyrs; and all those who made great contributions to the revolution. We will always remember the dedication of workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, intellectuals, artists, the elderly, youth, women, children, followers of all religions, compatriots of all ethnic groups, overseas Vietnamese, as well as friends and progressive people around the world who have stood shoulder to shoulder with us, supporting our just revolutionary cause over the past eighty years.

The Fatherland of Vietnam is the crystallization of a thousand years of cultural tradition in building and defending the country; of courage, wisdom, compassion, and aspiration to rise. That spirit forged the great strength of the August Revolution; of our two long resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism; of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in peace; and of the cause of renewal, international integration, and development. This is the strength that originates from the People, belongs to the People, and serves the People — the strength of the great national unity under the glorious flag of the Communist Party of Vietnam, founded, led, and trained by President Ho Chi Minh.

We proudly affirm: every victory of the Vietnamese revolution is inseparable from the sound and wise leadership of the Party, and from the ideology, morality, and style of Ho Chi Minh. Our Party, the vanguard of the working class, the working people, and the Vietnamese nation, has always remained steadfast in its goal of national independence linked with socialism; creatively applied and developed Marxism–Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought in line with the realities of each period; and consistently placed the interests of the Fatherland and the People above all else. Thanks to this, our nation has overcome countless difficulties and challenges; our country has transformed from a colony into an independent and unified nation, steadily advancing toward modernization and deep international integration; its position and prestige increasingly affirmed on the international stage.

The task of safeguarding the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; maintaining security, order, and social safety for rapid and sustainable development; and constantly improving the people’s livelihood and well-being is our command to act. To successfully realize these three tasks is to fulfill Uncle Ho’s final wish before he passed away: “My ultimate wish is that our entire Party and people unite and strive to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic, and prosperous Vietnam, and to make a worthy contribution to the revolutionary cause of the world.”

Through eighty years of hardship and heroism, we have affirmed this truth: under the glorious flag of the Party, with the light of Ho Chi Minh showing the way, relying on the strength of the People and the great national unity, there is no difficulty we cannot overcome; no noble goal we cannot achieve. Therefore, no obstacle, no force can prevent us from advancing toward peace, prosperity, and the enduring development of our nation.

Looking to the future, our Party has set the goal that by 2045, the 100th anniversary of the country’s founding, Vietnam will become a powerful, prosperous, and happy nation. This is the aspiration of our entire people, an oath of honor before History and the People.

I call on the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army, and our compatriots at home and abroad: through concrete and practical actions, let us unite, join hands, and be of one heart, turning aspirations into reality; strive harder, with greater determination; fully unleash the intelligence, creativity, and courage of Vietnam; and successfully accomplish the goals and tasks set by the Party and State, as expected by our People.

We are resolute and persistent in defending independence, freedom, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and every inch of our sacred land with the combined strength of the entire nation: political, economic, cultural, scientific, technological, military, diplomatic, and above all, the strength of the People’s will. We seek to be friends and reliable partners to all countries in the world. We respect international law and the Charter of the United Nations; we resolve disputes and disagreements by peaceful means. We will never yield to any plots or actions that violate our independence, sovereignty, unity, or territorial integrity; we are determined to firmly safeguard the interests of the nation and the people.

Compatriots, comrades!

At this solemn moment, it is as if we hear once again the echo of Uncle Ho’s Declaration of Independence in 1945, feel millions of Vietnamese hearts beating with pride, and hear the resounding oath: “To sacrifice our lives so that the Fatherland may live.” The more we understand the value of “Independence, Freedom, Happiness,” the more we cherish peace, and the more determined we are to nurture it; the more deeply we feel the sacred meaning of the words “My People, My Fatherland.”

Once again, we respectfully bow before the spirit of the great President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs, who have become one with the land and the sacred soul of the nation.

On this occasion, we extend our warmest congratulations to our compatriots, comrades, soldiers nationwide, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends on the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Long live the eternal Vietnam!

Long live the peaceful Vietnamese Fatherland!

Long live the prosperous and developing Vietnamese people!

Long live the glorious Socialist Republic of Vietnam!

Long live the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam!

Great President Ho Chi Minh will live forever in our cause!

Glory forever belongs to the People!

Sincerely, thank you.”
