FOSCO participated in the 2023 International Food Festival

On the 10th of December 2023, at the Van Phuc Diplomatic Compound, Ha Noi, the Service Company to Foreign Mission (FOSCO) participated in the 11th International Food Festival 2023 hosted by the Service for Diplomatic Corps Departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Participating in this Food Festival, FOSCO has 01 booth offering dishes with a strong Southern characteristic with small pancakes, glutinous rice cakes and Sai Gon crunchy rice snacks. The International Food Festival 2023 has 150 booths from the representatives from the Embassies in Ha Noi, international organizations, cultural centers, agencies from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, External Relations Departments of multiple provinces and businesses both domestic and international. The Festival is the opportunity for the nations of the world to conduct exchanges and expand their cultural knowledge and mutual understanding as well as to be the bridge for further displaying the image of Vietnam to the world. Throughout the past years, the International Food Festival is a clear proof for the solidarity between diplomatic agencies and a source of motivation for further developing of relations.
Mdm. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, spouse of Minister of Foreign Affair Bui Thanh Son is the patron of the event. The Festival also had the attendance of Minister Bui Thanh Son himself, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Mdm. Mai Thi Hanh, spouse of former President Truong Tan Sang, ambassadors and their spouses, chief representatives of international organizations, leaders of ministries and industries as well as External relationsoDepartments of various provinces.
In her remarks, Mdm. Vu Thi Bich ngoc stated for the past 10 years, the International Food Festival has become an outstanding cultural, culinary exchange event with the particiaption of ever more representatives from the Embassies, International Cultural Centers, External relations form the provinces, businesses and agencies from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Mdm. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, this year’s Festival is also an opportunity to practice the spirit of kindness, a continuance of previous years’ effort. As such, the fund raised from philanthropists for the past decade has been channeled towards charitable endeavors supporting orphans, people with disabilities, economically disadvantaged women and other people in need across the nation.
In his speech at the event, Mr. Khamphao Ernthavanh – Ambassador of Laos to Vietnam emphasized that food is an important emmissary in promoting international cultural exchange, in augmenting mutual understanding and friendshio between people of the world and connect people with the world, the past with the future and create a connecting thread of “Culinary memory”. As such, this year’s Festival open up a special opportunity to allow all attendees to discover the unique culture and art of various nations, deepening interntional solidarity in the process.
The most outstadning achievement this year is the highest number of booths in attendance with 150 booths from embassies, interntional cultural centers, external relations Departments of various provinces and cities, busineses and agencies from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The activities at the Festival include the Showcasing of unique culinary hallmarks of Vietnam and the nations of the world; musical performances; the exhibition and sales of local specialties; charitable fundraising.
A new item on the Festival’s program this year is the small exhibition of an “ASEAN Town” in miniature situated at the center of the Festival. This is where the booths from ASEAN countries were placed next to one another, creating a cozy, friendly and convienient area for visitors to enjoy the unique culinary contributions from each nations of the region.
