Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong met with President of Israel Reuven Ruvi Rivlin

On the afternoon of March 23, Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong met with President of Israel Reuven Ruvi Rivlin as he paid a State visit to Vietnam.
At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong showed the happiness to welcome the state high-rank delegation of Israel to HCMC.
As speaking highly of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam as well as HCMC and Israel, he stated that Vietnam and Israel have been exchanging delegations at different levels and signed many important agreements on farming, trading, finance, education, etc.
In HCMC especially, there are now 11 projects by Israel accounting for USD10 million, bilateral trade turnover is more than USD 1.3 billion in 2016.

Giving compliments to Israel’s economic achievements, among which are those in the field of high-tech agriculture, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong showed the eagerness to keep up with the success of “Israel’s Dairy Demonstration and Experimental Farm in Vietnam” implemented in HCMC for the period of 2012-2017. Many Israeli investors will continue to make projects and investments in the field of agriculture and also in other fields of Israel’s strength such as Information Technology, Technology Personel Training, Tourism, etc.
At the same time, President of Israel highly appreciated Vietnam’s effort on the fields such as education, health care. The bilateral relationship between the two countries over the past time has been developing well, especially with the focus on HCMC.
President of Israel recognised that Vietnam has been growing actively, with 50 Israeli businesses investing in the country, most of which are in HCMC.
Each year, there are about 18,000 young Israelis coming to Vietnam and this number is believed to be higher and higher. President of Israel believes that the bilateral relationship between the two countries will be outstandingly developed under the support of Ambassdor of Israel in Hanoi.

Following the meeting, host and guest witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a US$200 million financial package in healthcare between Israel’s Jasmine Group and Dat Vang Real Estate Investment Company.

Earlier, the Israeli President and his spouse visited a milch cow farm in Pham Van Hai Commune, Binh Chanh District, which applies Israel’s technological know-how, within the closed framework of feeding, washing up, and milking.
President Rivlin was very happy and proud when listening to the farm’s leaders, who told him that not only the local people are interested in the program but also people in the regional countries like Cambodia, Thailand, etc would like to visit and learn about it.

In the afternoon the same day, host and guest attended the Vietnam-Israel business forum and witnessed the signing of a MoU on research and development cooperation between the Israel Innovation Authority and the National Technology Innovation Fund.
During his stay, Rivlin called on Nguyen Van Troi Elementary School in District 4, the Family Medical Practice clinic in District 1 and a social model of providing support for people with disabilities in Thao Dien Ward, District 2.
