HCMC Held ASEAN Flag Hoisting Ceremony

As approved by the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on the morning of August 8th, at the flag station of Bach Dang Park, HCMC People’s Committee held the ASEAN Flag Hoisting Ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN (August 8th 1967 – August 8th 2017).
Attending were Member of Party’s Central Committee, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyễn Thành Phong; HCMC Leaders; Representatives of different departments, offices; Consuls General and Honorary Consuls of ASEAN countries in HCMC.
At the ceremony, the leaders recalled the procedure of founding and developing of the ASEAN community over the past 50 years. According to Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyễn Thành Phong, the power of ASEAN lies in the solidarity spirit of a family that has 10 countries as its members, together they have one faith, being united yet diversed.
Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyễn Thành Phong said, the Flag-hoisting Ceremony is a symbolistic activity which shows the will and commitment of HCMC as enhancing the friendly, cooperative, developing relationships with other countries in ASEAN; at the same time it shows the appreciation of the role of ASEAN in the development of HCMC in particular and of Vietnam in general.
Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyễn Thành Phong believed that with the solidarity power, the effort and determination of its country members, ASEAN will continue making steps towards higher bonding purposes for the common peace, security, tranquility and prosperity of more than 625 million ASEAN residents.
Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyễn Thành Phong expressed the hope that ASEAN community will grow stronger and stronger; that the relationships between Vietnam, with HCMC, and the other members of ASEAN will be more bonding, effective and developing.
