A Warm Winter in Tay Nguyen

From the 17th to 18th of December, FOSCO Welfare Delegation lead by Mr. Nguyễn Tương Minh_General Director together with some units under District 12 People’s Committee, with some business organisations, sponsors, doctors from Cho Ray Hospital, from Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Hospital HCMC and Gia Lai Communist Youth Union organised an event called A Warm Winter with many charitable activities for the local citizens and ethnic groups living in Chư Pảh and Krong Pa (Gia Lai).
There were many presents brought to the local people; free health-cheks and medicines for over 1.000 locals; 60 bicycles, 15 computer sets and 10 double-decker beds for the children. Besides, VND300 million was given to Gia Lai Communist Youth Union to proceed many social projects/activities for the less fortunate people who live in the distance areas near the border of Vietnam. The offer reached aproximately 1 billion in total given by some business organisations, by some units under District 12 People’s Commitee and by many generous sponsors.
Mr. Nguyễn Tương Minh shared: To continue the voluntary activities called A Green Summer Campaign by HCMC students, the former leaders of the Communist Youth Union who are currently working in many different fields came up with the idea to organise the event called A Warm Winter in Tay Nguyen, with the hope to help provide the less fortunate locals what they can have so that they can fully enjoy the coming Tet holidays as well as to help faciliate what is needed at the local Communist Youth Union so that they can proceed their social projects/activities. In 2009, the charitable activities were simply giving Tet gifts and clothes for the less fortunate children. Later on there were more events and sponsorships like supporting local businesses, giving free cows, supporting agriculture, free health-checks and medicines etc. With the help from Gia Lai Communist Youth Union, there were more and more practical activities that can actually help the people living in distance areas like Ia Pa, Chưprông, Kông Chro, Đắk Đoa…
In 2012, when free cows were given to the less fortunate people in Chưprông, many housholds shared that they found it surprising since they had never had such a valuable asset that’s worth a dozen of Vietnam Dong before. From the few cows given 5 five years ago, as informed in the local news, there are now hundreds of them, which practically helped so many households get out of poverty, feel more comfortable with their lives. Then there were the free health-checks and medicines, free surgeries for children with a cleft palate done by the doctors from Cho Ray Hospital and from Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Hospital HCMC, which were like miracles that happened to the locals who live in such distance areas.
2016 was the 8th year that the event A Warm Winter was organised with the offer reaching VND10 billion, supporting many local citizens, delevoping local businesses, helping many get out of poverty, creating trust in a society where sharing is common among the community.
