FOSCO Leader attended the The King’s Day Celebration of The Netherlands

On the evening of the 27^th of April, 2017, Mr. Luong Thanh Dien, Executive Member of FOSCO Board of Member came to congratulate and offer flowers to the King’s Day celebration of The Netherlands organised by the Consul General of The Netherlands in HCMC.
Attending and giving a speech at the celebration, Mr. Huynh Cach Mang, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee, on behalf of the city authority and people, extended many congratulations to the Netherlanders on their joyful holidays and expressed the happiness for the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and The Netherlands which has been developed to comprehensive strategic partners on many fields such as adaptation to climate change, water management, agriculture, food security, education, culture and tourism.
As talking about the relationship between HCMC and the Netherlands, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang emphasized that HCMC is the leading one to establish many cooperative activities with the Netherlands. In 2016, the bilateral trade between HCMC and the Netherlands reached over $1.28 billion, increasing 22% as compared with 2015. As for investment, up to April 2017, the Netherlands had 107 investment projects in HCMC, accounting for $1.8 billion, ranking #8 among the countries/states that have investment in HCMC.
Besides, HCMC and Rotterdam of The Netherlands have been implementing the MOU in the period of 2015-2018 on “HCMC moving towards the sea with climate change adaptation”. “This is evidence to the realistic cooperative relationship between HCMC and The Netherlands, together with the other programs on controlling floods, adaptations to climate change and rising sea level, environmental pollution reduction”, said Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang as he expressed the hope to enhance and sustain the relationship between Vietnam and The Netherlands in general, between HCMC and The Netherlands in particular.
Consul General of The Netherlands to HCMC, Mr. Simon van der Burg expressed his happiness for the good developing relationship between The Netherlands and Vietnam on many fields including trade, agriculture, water management, environment, etc as well as the bilateral cooperation of the 2 countries after more than 43 years of establishing diplomatic relations.
