Diplomats Can Cook V - 2023

On the 28th of October 2023, at Van Thanh Village, the Service Company for Foreign Mission (FOSCO) hosted the event of “Diplomats can Cook V - 2023”. This event attracted the participation of 21 teams from the Consular Corps: The Consular Club in Ho Chi Minh City, the Kingdom of Cambodia, The Republics of Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Indonesia, Belarus, Cuba, the Laos PDR, The United States of America and the People’s Republic of China as well as the Service Department for Foreign Mission from the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Departments of External relations from the provinces and cities of: Can Tho, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Long An, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City as well as the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and Union of Friendship Organizations of Ho Chi Minh City.
“Diplomats can Cook V – 2023” was organized with the patronage of Mdm. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc – Honorary President of the ASEAN Women’s Circle in Ha Noi, spouse of Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son. At the event, Mdm. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc remarked: “In Vietnamese culture, food is closely tied to family love, the family meal in Vietnam is always a warm and affectionate affair. This year’s event is not merely an occasion for the exchange and exhibition of the culinary culture of differnet nations but also an opportunity to spread the message of a peaceful, friendly, cooperative future between Vietnam and the nations of the world.”
In her speech at the event, Mdm. Nguyen Minh Hang – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs reserved high praises for FOSCO’s  preparation of the event and expressed her hope that this trend continues into futrue event.
In addition, the event also received the support and participation of a panel of 5 culinary specialists from Vietnam and abroad, among whom is Artisan Bui Thi Suong - Deputy Director of Vietnam Culinary Conservation, Research and Development Center, Head of the Board of Judges.

7.   Most Meaningful presentation: Consulate-General of the Republic of Estonia
8.   Best Decoration: Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus
9. Best use of Spices: Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations
10. Best Grilled dish: Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia
11. Best Baked dish: Consulate General of the Republic of Italy
12. Best Broth: Binh Phuoc Department of External Relations
13. Most Professional Team: Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China
14. Best Chicken dish: Long An Department of External Relations
15. Best Fish dish: Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations
16. Best Seafood dish: Ba Ria -Vung Tau Department of External Relations

“Diplomats can Cook V – 2023” was successfully organized as leave a good impression upon all participants. Through this occasion, we could witness a different side to diplomats, not only as talented people in diplomacy but also artist in the kitchens. Each dishes prepared showcase the expertise and creativity of the diplomats while also sending a message presenting the culinary culture of each nation and regions to international friends, ringing with it the well wishes and hope for peace for all countries in the world. Mdm. Milena Padula – Chairwoman of the Consular Club in Ho Chi Minh City expressed her wish that “Diplomats can Cook” become an emblematic annual event for FOSCO to maintain a wholesome, meaningful platform for fellow diplomatic agencies within the Vietnam and from abroad.
