Representatives of FOSCO attended “The meeting with Foreign Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City”

On the afternoon of November 17th, the representatives of FOSCO attended the “The meeting with Foreign Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City” organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade.
The representative of FOSCO took part in the discussion at the Conference and offered a brief overview of the company’s establishment process, its roles, responsibilities, and types of services while also giving the Conference the information on relevant regulations in accordance with Articles 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 of Government Decree No. 152/2020/ND-CP dated December 30th, 2022 on recruitment and management of Vietnamese workers working for foreign employees in Vietnam.
According to a report given at the conference by the Ho Chi Minh Department of Industry and Trade, there are currently 20 foreign business associations in the city with nearly 6000 members from nations such as the US, France, Germany, Japan, Europe, and Korea, … In recent years, as a link between the international business community and Vietnam, the associations have made significant contributions to the joint effort. In addition, they also take part in formulating and critiquing legal regulations, making a significant improvement of the business investment environment in Ho Chi Minh City in particular, and Vietnam in general to promote innovation and sustainable growth.
However, in recent times, foreign enterprises still face many difficulties in completing the documentation necessary related to the association’s operations. As a result, the issue that many foreign organizations are concerned about is the work permits for foreign workers that is still insufficient; enterprises have not been updated with information on the operating procedures of foreign associations; issues with the procedure for applying for a seal…
Speaking at the end of the conference, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade Mr. Le Huynh Minh Tu stated that an amendment to Government Decree 08 (2008) is required to extend the operation time of associations abroad, which is currently limited to 03 years. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade in will continue to recommend to the City People's Committee that the Government amend this Decree.
At the end of the conference, Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA) and the Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICHAM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support and promote both sides’ business in related fields, particularly in information sharing, trade connections, and organizing activities for members of both sides. Especially in the HAWA Expo 2023 fair organized by HAWA in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Trade, ICHAM will act as a technical partner to jointly organize the fair.
